Providers

This part of the website is for the attention of care home owners and community care providers. We hope that if you are a care provider you can use this page as a tool to objectively review this area of your service.

Results from internal care home reports and audits are a valuable tool for Quality  Assurance Monitoring. These results sometimes may not reflect the true status of the situation and have been found less than objective as internal auditing can be interpreted as being subjective depending upon the auditor.

Every care provider has a reputation. A good reputation is at the heart of organisational success, consistent high standards of care delivery and good inspection reports.

Having a reputation can mean the difference between success and failure, so there may be a number of questions you may wish to ask yourself about your service.

  • What does the public know about my service?
  • What do my inspection reports say about my service?
  • What star rating has been awarded to my service? Am I happy with this rating or could I improve?
  • Are my employees complying with my company policies and reflecting the professional image and high standards I want for my business / organisation?
  • Are my employees making unnecessary medication errors which are having or could have a negative impact on my service delivery, the safety and confidence of my current and prospective Service Users / relatives and inspection reports?

Care Comply can help you support better practices within the management of your medication system to help you comply with legislation.

A serious drug error within your service could lead to adverse publicity and at worst prosecution or even imprisonment.

Please take a few moments to consider the following:-

  • In reality, are my employees complying with my company policies and procedures in relation to medicine management within my organisation?
  • Are my Service Users at risk because of unnecessary staff error or lack of application and awareness? Are my staff suitably trained and do they have regular evidence based assessment for competency?
  • Am I fully aware and informed of what is happening at floor level?
  • Does my service have medication management issues that may be reflected in my star rating?
  • Has my service consistently met the required standard for administration of medication when looking at my last 6 inspection reports? NO? Why not?

Care Comply can offer a compliance check of your medication system and administration practices to:-

a) Confirm that your service is complying with the standards and providing the best possible care to Service Users in this area of care provision.

b) Identify that your service may have some areas that may require minor adjustments which will enable your staff to consistently meet regulatory standards in the future as required by the Care Quality Commission to deliver safer practices.

The most successful strategy for ensuring that any system is free from   error is to make it your company policy that errors do not occur.
